What's Alternative Soul?

When the smell of the manure that divorce, ageing, and death create was suffocating me, I had to get creative and come to terms with life, love, and everything. Especially the soul side, which gets some kooky press. I wanted to find out what it really meant.

Soon I felt driven to create whatever came to me through a soulful feeling. My songwriting passion grew into what can only be described as Alternative Soul music. No restrictions. Organic. Meaningful.

As a writer, especially of poetry, I found songwriting a natural way to turn real-life challenges into something creative that brings the listener some Soul Happiness today.

Every lyric you hear is mine. Every melody comes from me too: I hum or sing it first with my untrained but eager voice, and sometimes that voice stays on the track.

No human band could play every genre my soul wants to create (as much as I'd love one on tap in my bedroom studio 24/7), so I use AI as my creative tool. But AI is just the beginning. I'd love human voices to cover my songs. Share your version on social media and tag me @cjbtoday ☀️

My songs are always my own originals, never copies. I stand with human artists and their copyright, and I back AI music tools being fully licensed, with artists paid fairly for past and future use. Human musicians will always be my first choice. That's what soul means to me.

I hope you find in each track what you weren't looking for, because that's often where the good stuff is rooted today.
