Something Life-Changing Happened Yesterday!
"Sometimes, the best moments are found in the silence between the noise" CJB
I'll jump straight to it. Yesterday, around 8:30pm, my dad and I were watching TV when the internet cut out. It couldn't be restored, and suddenly, we were left to ponder life without the digital filter that so often clouds our minds. And it was bloody wonderful!
Instantly, there was a feeling of liberation, like being freed from an invisible chain. I felt lighter, so much lighter. It was as if the present moment was speaking to us, saying, "Look before you, you have life. You have all you need right here. Enjoy it, embrace it now; it's yours, forever more."
Later that night, after reminiscing and having our best conversation yet about life, love, and everything (my favorite subjects!), I read from Eckhart Tolle's "The Power of Now," which reminded me of the immense power of the present. I fell fast asleep and woke up feeling rejuvenated.
So, what's the lesson here? Get off the internet whenever you can! Designate a no-internet day, where you literally turn it off. If that's not possible, book holidays where there's no internet access. And always be grateful for the gift of the present.
I leave you with this poem, inspired by yesterday's events:
We were focused on the digital blurs.
Until fate severed the spell,
And we awoke to the joys of life,
The buzzing of the central heating,
The scratching of the leaves upon the window,
Each noise reminding us that we are connected,
Connected naturally to everything around,
And everything recognizes us,
Feels us, and we are never alone.
