Yearning Is Learning
I’ve always been fascinated by what we run after. That hunger. That ache. That restless twitch in the gut that won’t let you sit still.

Yearning Is Learning
🌱 Seeded by CJB today
To yearn
is to learn—
but only when you’re knee-deep
in the thick,
when your head won’t quit spinning,
when it ain’t tomorrow you’re running from
—it’s yesterday chasing you down.
That’s the burn.
That’s the turn.
That’s the lesson hiding in the churn.
Find your compass.
Spit the question:
what the hell is it I really yearn?
‘Cause every hunger’s got a teacher.
Every ache’s a preacher.
In the chase,
you thought it was love you were bleeding for,
but truth—
it was life itself,
grimy,
uncertain,
calling you through alleyways and ash-grey mornings.
And when you circle back,
see yourself yearn from far away—
man, you laugh,
drop the concern,
let it burn off like a fog.
That’s the gift:
in the yearning,
you learned.
In the learning,
you lived.

Let's dig into YEARNING some more...
I’ve always been fascinated by what we run after.
That hunger. That ache. That restless twitch in the gut that won’t let you sit still.
The streets will tell you yearning is weakness — that it’s thirst, desperation, a lack.
But here’s the raw truth: yearning is your compass.
Think about it.
When you were younger and you wanted something so bad it hurt — love, freedom, escape, belonging — it didn’t matter if you got it or not. The yearning itself taught you. It moved you. It grew you.
Yearning is the soil where lessons break through the dirt.
It’s the teacher that whispers while your mind is racing, while your past is tugging at your heels.
If you dare to sit with it, to actually ask: what am I yearning for?
You’ll find your soul pointing you home.
That’s the secret most people don’t want to face.
They think the yearning will kill them.
But the truth? It’s where life is hiding.
So instead of numbing it, chasing cheap highs, drowning it in work or screens or empty validation — lean into it.
Because in the act of yearning,
you are already learning.
And in that learning,
you are already loving.
Keep yearning. Keep learning. Keep loving—TODAY.
Let this all root. 🌱
Lots of love,
CJB 💚
PS: So good to be back posting — I’ve missed us. Here’s a quick update on my book and my health. It’s in audio format, so grab a drink and let’s have a chat.
