When Family Battles Rage: From "SEEMS" to Soul Love, Today
Things aren’t going too well for us lately. Time the healer isn’t healing time itself. We SEEM to be fighting on all fronts...
Dear Family... It SEEMS

Things aren’t going too well for us lately.
Time the healer isn’t healing time itself.
We SEEM to be fighting on all fronts...
DEMENTIA
ARTHRITIS
ALZHEIMER’S
CANCER...
It never SEEMS to end.
The world is getting drowned out.
And yet.
Like the Sahara heat,
I feel a warmth rising,
Pain evaporating today...
As I remember so many good times—
Some, at the time, didn’t SEEM so good.
That word again!
Hiding treasure,
Untapped pleasure:
SEEMS!
A transient word,
A misguided one too.
For the reality remains steadfast:
I have, do, and will—always LOVE you.
Now bugger off and seize today!
Sweetness makes unawakened minds run far far away.
("Far Far" reminds me of the story about a Tree!
Wonderful thoughts of bed time stories,
with my mum, my brother, and me)

When Family Battles Rage: From "SEEMS" to Soul Love, Today
The Word That Tricks Us: Unpacking "SEEMS"
Life, eh? Just when you think you've got a handle on the chaos, it decides to throw a full-blown family health crisis your way. Dementia, arthritis, Alzheimer's, cancer... it hits like a rogue wave, one after another, drowning out the world you thought you knew. As I wrote in the poem above, "It never SEEMS to end."
That word, "SEEMS," is a real trickster. It’s the whisper in your ear that makes you believe things are worse than they truly are, that hope is impossible, that you’re forever trapped in the darkness. It paints a picture that isn't quite the full canvas.
Our human-animal brains are wired for survival, and sometimes, that means magnifying threats. When the body breaks down, or the mind falters, the primal ego jumps in, screaming, "This SEEMS unbearable! This SEEMS like the end!" It feeds our #grumpy side, making us believe the fight is always on all fronts.
Finding the Sahara Heat: The Soul Act of Shifting Perception
But here’s the rub, and it’s a big one, a real Soul Act: just beneath that suffocating blanket of "it seems," something else is always waiting.
Like the poem describes, "Like the Sahara heat, I feel a warmth rising, Pain evaporating today..."
This isn't some airy-fairy, "toxic positivity" nonsense. This is the grounded, earthy truth of soul happiness. It's the moment you choose to look beyond the surface-level "seems" and remember what's truly steadfast.
For me, it’s remembering the laughter from those "Far Far" bedtime stories with Mum and my brother (and later my daughter too). It’s the unconditional love that underpins every single argument, every worry, every difficult conversation. It’s remembering that even times that "didn’t SEEM so good" back then are now cherished treasures of memory.
That's the power of LOVE * EVERYTHING * TODAY! It’s not about ignoring the pain; it’s about recognizing that even the "shit ones" (as I often say) hold a seed of truth, a lesson, a chance to grow. It’s about understanding that love, real love, the kind that binds family and self, is a constant, unaffected by what "SEEMS" to be happening on the surface.
From Trapped to Thriving: Seizing Today's Love
My journey from "trauma survivor" to "trauma thriver" taught me this pivotal shift. When you're lost in the "seems," you're stuck in your head, paralyzed by anxiety and worry. But when you awaken to the boundless wisdom of the soul, you realize that love is your master, and nature is your release.
So, when insomnia calls, when illness casts its long shadow, or when family dynamics feel like a battlefield, challenge that word: "SEEMS." Dig deeper. Ask yourself: What is the reality beneath what seems to be? What love can I choose to feel, right here, right now, today?
The secret to #soulhappiness isn't avoiding the difficult, but acknowledging it, feeling it, and then choosing to pivot. To say, "Now bugger off and seize today!" – to turn away from the mind's nagging demons and embrace the raw, unfiltered truth of what you love, what you create, and who you are.
It’s about understanding that true connection and real joy don't run from the pain; they grow through it. And that love, always love, is the constant that will bring you home today.
Let it root. 🌱
Right. Gotta grow! 🌱
Lots of love,
CJB 💚
