Today's Deviant

by CJB

To be a deviant
is to be born.

A natural cycle—
pushing life through a blood-stained brick wall...
and walking free the other side.

To be defiant
against the winds of opinion.
Stopping today,
browsing the leaves on the trees,
as one by one
they feel your stare.

Taking a seat upon thought.
Letting the sunlight bathe your form.

Watching.
Silently.
As insects crawl into buildings.
And smiling
a curve upon the horizon.

Oh, to be a deviant in life,
it cuts through society—
time is your knife.

Today's deviant is but a blur,
to the money makers making,
making nothing...
