This Isn't Your Life — Just Kidding! Or Am I?

You know that depressive pain or anxiety you’ve been carrying around?
You know — the one that makes you feel sad in some way, the one that colors your todays.
Every one of us has experienced something that makes us want to SHOUT OUT to the world:
“HEY EVERYONE, LOOK WHAT SH*T I’M DEALING WITH!”
And deep down, there’s this tiny, almost childlike hope that says:
“Come on, God… (or whatever you believe in — come on, Kermit). This is a joke, right? That thing didn’t really happen, did it? Or at least you’re going to tell me: JUST KIDDING! Now that I’ve had this thought, I get to live any life I want — just click the red heels. YES… EVEN ME, BIKER GUY!”
What am I on about?
You know me — I love analogies, I love to get creative, but I always have one mission: to help you grow. To help you see that the thoughts haunting your mind aren’t what you think they are.
Hopefully you understand what I mean by “carrying pain.”
If you’re young, maybe you’ve been lucky so far. Maybe nobody close to you has passed away yet. But perhaps you’ve still felt that ache — like when you had to leave your parents to go to school.
As you get older… well, I don’t want to be a party pooper, but life happens. Things change. And because we’re human animals, our emotions can turn stormy, like a rough sea.
Mental health struggles, loss, illness, bad luck… you name it. And your mental gremlins will cling to those moments, trying to take root and control your life.
JUST KIDDING!
Actually — no, I’m not this time.
It’s real. But here’s the good news: you can overcome it. You can turn your todays into something brighter — like brewing that perfect cup of coffee… aahhh.
That’s where Soul Awareness comes in.
It’s about keeping the bigger picture in sight at all times. Pain grows when we focus on it in the wrong way. The more we feed it, the heavier it gets.
Soul awareness breaks you free. It shifts your thinking from being led by your primal ego to being guided by your infinite soul.
Which brings us back to that moment when life feels unbearable — and you wish someone would say “Just kidding, this isn’t your life.”
Well, there’s a little truth in that.
I’ll warn you: this idea will make your primal ego squirm. But as a soul, you are eternal. Not “eternal” in the overcomplicated mystical sense — just bigger, deeper, and wider than this one human experience.
All the pains and challenges you’ve endured? They start to make sense when you see from that soul perspective.
Here’s an analogy (and hey, maybe it’s rubbish, but here we go):
Your life is a boat on an ocean. At first, the waters are calm. But as you travel, storms arrive. Some hurt you. Some almost drown you.
But your soul is not just the person on the boat. Your soul is part of the water. Part of the storm. Part of the zoomed-out silence of space. When you live from that level, life’s events fall into place. The pain doesn’t sting the same way.
Someone dies? Cry. Scream. Get angry — or don’t. Do what you need to do. But stay kind. Stay true to love. And when the fever of grief passes, when you can sit quietly and look at the world again, you’ll see:
JUST KIDDING — there really is more than just this.
And that “more” is love.
Love is both the yearning and the solution.
Love is always here.
Love everything today, and you’ll be more than okay.
Right. Gotta grow! 🌱
Lots of love,
CJB 💚
JUST KIDDING!
I forgot to show you my #vss365 poem for today which weirdly is the word #prank!
I just did a small haiku, hope you like it?
Life plays its small tricks
But you can turn them around
By thinking anew
