Happenstance — Or Was It?
🌱 Seeded by CJB today
Last night, at sunset, I stood in the park.
Feet felt hot—kicked some loose bark—
It struck some litter—so near the bin!
Watery eyes blinked a Morse code
As golden light forgave the sin.
The sky kept falling—blinking goodnight—
Signaling gently, “Your thinking’s not right.”
But my peacock brain, it carried on—
SCREECHING!
“The litterer won’t care I’m reaching—
For this bin—and it's their sin!”
Then I thought—or did I feel?
Happenstance… or was it real?
That plastic bag had landed just there—
A perfect perch, to show the world I care.
To train my brain from running blind…
To pause, and notice: it’s GREAT being kind!
The sun beamed wide ‘til my soul blinked too.
Suddenly—I could see the view:
Those trees, that sky—
A tangerine hue.
Now truly exposed,
I developed photos beneath watery eyes,
Watched the sun bid farewell
to orange-peel skies.
My notes...
It’s summertime here in Wales. That means the tourists flock in, and the kids are off on their summer holidays. It also means—more litter.
I spend so much time each day picking up other people’s rubbish. And honestly, if you let it, it can start to pollute your own mind too.
The negative thoughts creep in: How can people just not care? How could they do this—to nature, to somewhere so beautiful? Don’t they realize what this world would become (or maybe already is becoming) if everyone threw plastic everywhere—until no grass or trees could be seen?
The consequences are real.
But that kind of thinking isn’t healthy.
It litters your own moment too.
Thankfully, kindness is the point.
Loving everything—TODAY—come what may. That’s the beauty of life. That’s what you need to feel things are more than okay, today.
This poem is about staying soul-aware.
Your soul already knows how to live:
Love. Be kind.
Love everything—in your own way.
Feel life rushing through your mind, body, and soul.
Feel soul fulfillment.
And know—good actions will always shine brighter than bad ones.
Oh, and as for the photo—yes, this poem really did happen last night.
It’s a true story. That photo is one of several I took.
The sky was stunning.
Nature was loving.
And I hope that feeling is beaming through you now, too.
And please know—these words are not a lecture.
They’re just love, being shared.
I cannot control what the world does.
But I can control how my soul acts.
And that, always, is what matters most in this life experience.
Curious about this creation—like why the peacock?
