Digital Skin
"Touch is much more than a digital connection" ✨ CJB

Digital Skin:
I'm trying to find you...
But you keep running
from my words!
Each letter
mirrors a line from—
my fingerprints,
tapping a digital Morse code
each day. Today, again.
Yet you don’t feel my touch?
It’s like there’s a screen protector
between you and me—
between all of us.
Do we need protection?
From silent rejection?
Social media should connect,
or so it’s often said—
Yet I’ve never felt more
disconnected.
You’ve become a stat.
A pricked fingertip,
pressing a blood-stained heart.
Rushed comments
blister digital skin.
Touching each other
with pixelated art.
This feels so wrong.
How did it get to this?
Can you even see me now?
I’m right here—
on the other side of the screen...
My nerves feel on fire.
No, not from heat—
from ice.
It’s getting so goddamn cold.
[...MOUTH OPENING WIDE...]
Oh. I get it now.
You don’t see me
because you’re looking at yourself.
Your pain.
Your life.
Your everything.
Yes.
I was the same.
It was insane.
But I overcame.
So how do you change—
rearrange—
when skin feels so goddamn strange?
Let’s look up.
See the heavens above.
Free our minds from ourselves.
Fully touch through the sincerity of love.
LMFAO—
sorry to interrupt your screen time!
This comment’s become an emotional crutch.
More flakes of my digital skin—
but maybe today,
you’ll feel my touch?
✍️ My notes on this creation:
I've noticed that since I have been using social networks every day, my mental health has been challenged - a lot!
How do you find things online? Do you use social media a lot?
Do you think the relationships you make are genuine? Most people you connect with have strange usernames and no real profile photo. Does that say it all?
And then there is the wider aspect of digital communication. Compare it to actual physical communication which was done before the internet!
Do you think we are going down a slippery slope with all this?
Being optimistic**,** I think the answer lies with having soul awareness. As long as you act with common sense and understand that love rules, and you can agree to disagree with people and still love them, then you will likely make it through the digital era.
If you don't. If you dive deep into digital connections and let the negative side of that process affect you badly, well, you are going to start getting depression when no likes come your way, and you will feel angry when anyone posts anything against what you think, because you are always right...
My message is clear in this creation. Remain aware of the realities that the digital life is literally that. By all means make connections, but try to connect with real people, real profile photos, real names, and if you can do things in real life.
After all, real life is where the soul thrives.
I used the "Heatwave" bright coloring in the video to blend that digital feel. I also go by my senses, what feels right when I create things, and this color just seemed to connect with the entire message giving it both a slightly soulless but also a soulful feel depending on the words being stated. The background video was used because I felt the messages which show the word "Love" and the image of a woman and child add a further layer of the digital challenges we all face with relationships.
I hope you find some soulful elements in this to power you into soul happiness. Any questions, let me know on social media, buttons below!
Stay strong!
Love you,
