He was old before he got old,  
A man hunched but straight.  
He was youthful in his garden,  
Always waiting by his gate.  
  
A plethora of flowers lined a cleanly swept cobbled path,  
Scattered patterns of uneaten seeds littered the small birdbath.  
Being alone he had forgotten much, but remembered what he should,  
To be a kind man, a marvelous soul, alone, but happy, living in his wood.
